Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The couple married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
